Patrick Kennedy's Afghanistan anger
"Congressman Patrick Kennedy of Rhode Island doesn't like the news coverage of Afghanistan. In fact, he's hysterical over it and screamed about the coverage of disgraced Congressman Eric Massa. The Congressman is right about Massa, but he's wrong about press coverage of Afghanistan, which has been extensive. Apparently Mr. Kennedy, who will not debate the issue with me, has some problems about the way the war is being waged. Is Kennedy fine with allowing the Taliban to create chaos in Afghanistan, because that's what would happen if the USA pulls out? So I ask you, Congressman: Do you not understand that Al Qaeda would move back into Afghanistan and reestablish their worldwide terror network with Taliban support? If you are so passionate about the issue, you should be right here discussing it in front of millions of people. But you are not, so spare me the histrionics."

Tensions growing between Pelosi & White House?
Speaker Nancy Pelosi is reportedly fed up with the White House imposing deadlines for a vote on the health care reform bill. The Factor asked radio talk show host Laura Ingraham about the tension on Capitol Hill. "If Nancy Pelosi had the votes," Ingraham said, "there would be a vote right now. But she doesn't have the votes and there are so many different pieces of this debate falling apart for the Democrats at the same time. We have the Hispanic caucus upset, liberals are furious, pro-life Democrats feel totally dissed, and House Democrats don't trust the Senate. I think all of this is coming to a head and they are panicked on Capitol Hill. Nancy Pelosi is not going to schedule a vote if she risks losing." The Factor speculated that "this may never even come to a vote."

Controversy on Holder's terror suspect opinions
It has been revealed that Attorney General Eric Holder filed a brief in 2004 arguing that the president can not hold a U.S. citizen as an enemy combatant. Former Bush aide Dana Perino criticized Holder for failing to disclose that information when he was nominated by President Obama. "When he was confirmed by the Senate," Perino said, "Holder was asked whether his questionnaire was complete and thorough. Under oath, he said that it was, but now we know that he had filed this brief. I'll take him at his word that it was inadvertent." The Factor agreed that Holder may have simply forgotten about the case in question: "I don't have any use for Eric Holder, I think he's too soft on terrorism and way too left-wing. But I don't want to cheap-shot him." Perino also opined on the revelation that Speaker Nancy Pelosi was made aware of former Congressman Eric Massa's inappropriate behavior in October. "She has a lot of answering to do," Perino said. "If young staffers were being harassed, she should have turned it over to the Ethics Committee. The question is, what did she know and when did she know it."

Ignoring Afghanistan, spotlighting Massa
Following up on the Talking Points Memo, The Factor asked Washington Post columnist Sally Quinn about Patrick Kennedy's anti-media tirade. "Kennedy is clearly passionate about this," Quinn said. "He called the press 'despicable' and I'm sure every politician has waited for that moment. My sense is that he just erupted with frustration - it's really frustrating to talk in the gallery when no one is there and you're talking about something you're passionate about." The Factor again invited Congressman Kennedy to debate the issue: "If he has a serious beef about Afghanistan, I wish he would come and tell me what it is. This program covers Afghanistan, your newspaper covers it, so what else does he want? I think there is something else bothering him about the press, maybe that his late father wasn't treated well."

A secret formula for a happy marriage?
A new study claims marriages tend to be happier when the wife is substantially smarter than her husband. Culture Warriors Margaret Hoover and Gretchen Carlson analyzed that claim. "This is a ridiculous study," Carlson declared. "It says women have to be at least 27% smarter than their husbands! Why should a woman marry a dumber husband? Marriage is all about communication." Hoover also cast doubt on the research and its conclusion. "People coming up with solutions to marriage problems are as old as civilization itself, and they have been bogus since the beginning of civilization." The Factor facetiously pointed out one reason to take the study seriously: "I bring in women contributors and guests who are at least 27% smarter than me, and my ratings are very strong. So this study may be on to something." The Warriors then theorized why alcohol and marijuana abuse is rising among teens. "The message of society," Carlson claimed, "is that it's cool and it's okay. Just this past weekend Woody Harrelson wore a tux made of hemp and everybody talked about it." But Hoover disagreed, saying "the cultural cues in the past year have been of major celebrities with drug problems."

Controversy over models' body types
FNC anchor Megyn Kelly began by criticizing Victoria's Secret for using a model who is downright emaciated. "It's shocking and really disturbing," Kelly exclaimed. "That is the picture of unhealth and I would not use that photo. Between 7- and 10-million women are struggling with anorexia, 86% of them contract the disease before they turn twenty, and it is one of the hardest diseases to beat." On a weightier topic, Kelly explained why conservatives are opposed to Goodwin Liu, who has been appointed by the President to serve on the U.S. Court of Appeals. "This is what you would expect from President Obama. Liu has said that the Constitution is a document that should be adapted and he has a left-wing ideology. But his qualifications are unassailable."

Great American News Quiz: Celebrity mockery edition
Steve Doocy and Martha MacCallum fielded questions about celebrities who have insulted, mocked, debased, and/or ridiculed The Factor. Among the questions: "Actress Jessica Alba was nominated for a 'worst actress' award in 2008. Who beat her out for the prize?" ... "Which actress said: 'I was afraid that Bill O'Reilly would come with a shotgun at my front door?'" ... "Which lady of 'The View' came on The Factor to criticize me for satirizing Helen Thomas?" MacCallum, apparently an expert in Factor mockery, eked out a one-point victory.

Viewers sound off
Lucy Watts, Baton Rouge, LA: "Bill, you are wrong and Father Morris is right. A private school has the right to have standards. It's the lesbian parents who are hurting the children, not the school expelling them."
Joe Famulari, San Francisco, CA: "As a Roman Catholic, I disagree with Father Morris. Jesus loves everyone and would not expel the kids."
Casey Sobhani, Pacific Palisades, CA: "Bill, your segment with Dennis Miller has become so tedious you should call it 'Filler Time.'"
Nathaniel Sherrill, Thousand Oaks, CA: "Bill, tonight's segment with Miller on Massa was brilliant. What a great dose of healing hilarity in troubling times. God bless you."
