Why Most Americans Did Not Vote in Last Week's Election
"Last week's vote had the lowest turnout in 72 years. Just over 36% of Americans went to the polls, and in 43 states less than half of eligible voters showed up. The vote broke down this way: Women cast 51% of the ballots; men, 49%. 75% of the voters were white, 12% black, 8% Hispanic, 3% percent Asian. Just 13% of voters were ages 18 to 29, a very low turnout. Also, 53% of American adults want Republicans in Congress to lead the nation, while just 36% want President Obama to continue leading. Talking Points believes the public is basically jaded. All the strife has alienated many voters, they don't like anybody in politics. Also, the machines are taking people away from reality, as we see with our Watters' World segments. Some Americans don't know anything, they're lost in cyberspace, creating phony worlds where they can escape responsibility. Do not underestimate how these machines are changing the way Americans participate in the process. Twenty years from now, 20% of the population will control the other 80% because the machine addiction is just going to get worse. Politicians are playing to a narrow audience, and unless you have a breakout guy like Barack Obama, whose African-American status caught everybody's attention, Election Day is becoming passé. However, I do expect heavy interest in the 2016 race because of Hillary Clinton. She is a polarizing figure and could become the first woman to win the presidency, so everyone will know that's in play. But in the off year elections, you can forget it. Americans have checked out."
Global Warming Con?
Guest:Erick Erickson
President Obama has cut a deal with China to curtail carbon emissions that may contribute to "global warming." The Factor asked conservative writer Erick Erickson to evaluate the agreement. "The world has been warming and cooling for several billion years," he began, "so I would put myself in the 'natural phenomenon' camp. If carbon emissions have anything to do with this, it's miniscule, and this agreement is a con because we will be cutting our emissions over the next eleven years and China will be doing exactly nothing!" Whatever the merits of the deal, The Factor concluded, "You and I and everybody else agree that it's better for all of us to have a cleaner country and a cleaner planet."
Unfair Coverage?
Guest:Howard Kurtz
FNC media analyst Howard Kurtz assessed coverage of ObamaCare architect Jonathan Gruber, who was caught on tape admitting that the law was passed under false pretenses to fool "stupid" Americans. "There has been a virtual blackout," Kurtz complained, "with nothing on the network evening newscasts. There was one mention on CNN and not a word in the New York Times. On what planet is this embarrassing admission not news? I sometimes sit here and tell you they are consumed with other stories, but no one in America has Ebola anymore." The Factor cited this as one more example of media corruption: "The media is a liberal colossus and you don't really get the news if it goes against the liberal orthodoxy. This is absolute proof!"
Immigration Debate
Guest:Laura Ingraham
Earlier this week The Factor described Laura Ingraham as "hardline" regarding immigration. She entered the No Spin Zone to refute that characterization. "According to the exit polls," she began, "more than three-quarters of Americans want immigration enforcement. They want jobs to go to Americans before they go to foreigners. We have failing schools, an overrun border, and wage stagnation, but you claim it is 'hard-right' to believe in immigration enforcement." The Factor again told Ingraham that she is out of the mainstream: "You want mass deportation, but most Americans want some kind of humane and fair solution for the 12-million illegals who are here. But we both agree that the border has to be secured with a military presence before anything happens. And anyone who commits a crime should be gone."
Is It True?
Guests:Molly Line & Eric Shawn
Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg alleged that Texas's voter ID law would prevent more than 600,000 voters from casting their ballots. Fox News anchor Eric Shawn administered a dose of truth serum to that warning. "There were 16,000 people in Texas who cast provisional ballots because they didn't have an ID," he reported, "but what about the other 584,000 who are supposedly 'suppressed?' They don't care, they don't go and vote, and that is the dirty secret in this 'voter suppression' issue." Meanwhile, in Maryland's Montgomery County, Christmas will be omitted from the school calendar. FNC's Molly Line searched out the truth in that story. "The school board took a vote," she said, "and they decided to exclude all references to religious holidays. This began because Muslim leaders asked for equal billing for their two major Muslim holidays." The Factor denounced the decision as cowardly: "Montgomery County caved in. Christmas and Easter and Passover have a Judeo-Christian tradition in our country."
The President's Trip to China
Guest:Dennis Miller
Dennis Miller had some fun with President Obama's just-ended visit to China. "He obviously had to get out of the states after the election," Miller said, "and I think he's more comfortable in Red China than in red state America. He's a little envious of the Chinese leaders because they get to deem their citizens as mindless chattel while he has to use an intermediary like the health care architect Mr. Gruber." Miller ridiculed the gathering of world leaders. "This was a bunch of guys in weird suits getting to eat dinner. They couldn't send Biden because he can't walk and chew gum at the same time, and then there was the awkward dispute at the Great Wall. Obama had to concede that the Chinese invented stonewalling, but he's perfected it."
Outrageous Demands
Guest:Martha MacCallum
Protesters in Ferguson, Missouri are promising to unleash their outrage if there is no indictment in the Michael Brown case. FNC anchor Martha MacCallum reported that one group has put forth a list of demands. "The 'Don't Shoot Coalition' has put together 19 rules of engagement," she said. "They say the police can't wear riot gear, can't use rubber bullets, and can't come in with armored vehicles. They claim these were the things that set people off in the initial protests. But police are saying their primary concern is to keep people safe and they can't take anything off the table." The Factor reported that representatives of the 'Don't Shoot Coalition' have been invited on the program."
Dining With The Devil
Organizers of a Veterans Day "Concert for Valor" in Washington, DC invited foul-mouthed rapper Eminem to perform, then seemed surprised when he acted like a foul-mouthed rapper. Always remember that adage, "If you dine with the devil, bring a long spoon." The people who promoted that concert should have known better ... and should have brought some very long spoons.

Factor Words of the Day
Carolann Miller, San Antonio, TX: "Mr. O, Monica is correct! Welfare does cause abandonment of family!"

Hasset Monroe, Kalispell, MT: "O'Reilly, you often say the many problems in the black community stem from chaotic homes. I agree. No telling where I would have ended up without the firm hand of my father."

Ed Woodrich, Mounds, OK: "O'Reilly, Ben Stein's comments about blacks are correct. You are a moron. You are still defending Obama with your spin."

Stella Ames, Hong Kong: "Bill, it will take generations to fix the breakdown of the black family. Meantime, you are correct, teachers are the last line of defense."
