Is U.S. Foreign Policy Collapsing?
"Terrorists are running wild in the Middle East while an apathetic and cowardly world sits by and watches. In Yemen yesterday, at least 137 people were killed when two mosques were bombed by savages. Earlier this week, 21 tourists in Tunisia were slaughtered by terrorists. ISIS says they did it. And in Libya, ISIS fighters are attempting to take over the entire government as there is no central authority in that oil-rich nation. In the face of all the danger and chaos, President Obama says he is looking at the long run. He believes ISIS will be defeated 'slowly,' even though nearly every day people are dying and nations are destabilized. The president is banking on achieving a nuke deal with Iran. He believes if he can do that he will finally have a victory in the Middle East. And so he sent this video message to the Iranian people: 'The days and weeks ahead will be critical. Our negotiations have made progress, but gaps remain ... If Iran's leaders can agree to a reasonable deal, it can lead to a better path, the path of greater opportunities for the Iranian people.' But of course that message will be seen by a very few in Iran, which is not a free society. Talking Points has said from the beginning of the ISIS intrusion into Iraq that U.S. foreign policy was too weak, too scattered and now we are seeing the unintended consequences of being passive. President Obama does not want to engage U.S. troops on the ground against the terrorists. They know that so if they can dodge the bombs they can continue their carnage. In one country after another the ISIS savages are gaining footholds because they are so brutal. People fear them and surrender. Meantime, the West dithers."

The Factor invited reaction from Republican presidential prospect Mike Huckabee, who recently raised eyebrows by claiming that President Obama has shown "disdain" towards Israel. "This president has spent more time scolding Israel for building bedrooms in neighborhoods," Huckabee said, "than he has spent scolding Iran for trying to build a nuclear bomb. This is a president who believes Israel should go back to the pre-1967 borders, but I'm not sure he even knew what those borders were when he said that. That would put Israel in an incredibly precarious position. In President Obama's world, Israel is an aggressor." The Factor theorized that the tension is partly due to a personality clash: "President Obama doesn't like Netanyahu's style. The president is passive and seeks consensus, while Netanyahu is a warrior."
Dissatisfaction on the Right
Former Fox News host Glenn Beck, an influential voice in conservative circles, has announced that he is disgusted with the Republican Party and its priorities. Fox News analyst Karl Rove downplayed the significance of Beck's pronouncement. "This is not helpful," Rove admitted, "but it's not the first time he said this. In 2010 he called Republicans 'progressives light,' in 2011 he said he was not a Republican, and in 2013 he celebrated the death of the Republican Party with video of dying elephants. So this is old news!" On the subject of the GOP, The Factor reported that conservative Senator Ted Cruz will definitely enter the presidential race, which should lead to a "robust debate" among the various wings of the Republican Party.
Elizabeth Warren in 2016?
Many on the left are pining for Senator Elizabeth Warren to challenge Hillary Clinton for the Democratic nomination. The Factor spoke about Warren with Scott Brown, the man she defeated to win her senate seat in Massachusetts. "I respect her and I respect the fact that she ran a very spirited campaign," Brown said. "I think she's a good person and she appeals to a very ultra-liberal base. She was a creator of the Occupy movement and the 'you didn't build that' mentality, and her views are so far to the left of mainstream America that it would be difficult for her to run a mainstream campaign. If you look at her record, it's all divisiveness." The Factor concluded, "She's farther to the left than Barack Obama, she wants forced income redistribution."
The Rise of ISIS
A few loons, actor Sean Penn among them, are actually blaming the rise of ISIS on George Bush and Dick Cheney. Geraldo Rivera entered the No Spin Zone to opine. "Sean Penn is an uber left wing person," Rivera began, "and he is the very definition of the hard-left, progressive wing of the party. But he is also a very compassionate person with a big heart. When it comes to what he said about Bush and Cheney, remember that Sean Penn is very arrogant and self-involved. He is relying on a very checkered history, although it's true that the invasion in 2003 led to the destabilization of Iraq." The Factor responded with a fact-based history lesson: "After the surge and victory, there were three years of stability. It was only after the United States removed all its forces that the ISIS thugs were able to infiltrate from Syria."
Bergdahl Situation
The investigation of Bowe Bergdahl, the suspected deserter who was traded for five Taliban terrorists, has been stonewalled by the administration. In their inimitable way, Greg Gutfeld and Bernard McGuirk analyzed the situation. "They can't find Bergdahl," Gutfeld joked, "because he has deserted once again. Remember the White House affair where Obama was with Bergdahl's parents? Obama is looking at that like a drunken wedding in Vegas that he's now trying to annul. It was a complete disaster." McGuirk linked the delay to the ongoing negotiations with Iran. "They made a bad deal, releasing five terrorists for a deserter, so this is very embarrassing. The White House doesn't want the American people to know it got suckered by the Taliban. If they can't get a deal with the Taliban without getting suckered, how are they going to deal with Iran?"
The Dumbest of Watters' World
It wasn't easy, but one indomitable Factor producer scoured years of Watters' World segments, seeking the absolute, hands-down stupidest comments. There was one young man who lauded President Obama for ushering in an age of "world peace," while another guy confused Ebola with something he called "holy boly." Also, who can forget the woman who looked ahead to Hillary Clinton running against an opponent named Ben Gazzi, or the woman who praised Abraham Lincoln for writing the Declaration of Independence. The bottom of the barrel may have been the man who really, really sure that just off America's east coast sits the Red Sea. Holy Moses!

Factor Words of the Day
Teri-Lynn Bonica, Marietta, GA: "Bill, you are right that Fox News is labeled conservative because much of the other media won't accept that point of view. Bernie angered me last night, and I'm going to mute him from now on."

Kevin Colledge, Katy, TX: "The financial meltdown was caused by President Clinton's affordable housing act which compelled banks to make bad loans."

Dave Winefield, Auckland, New Zealand: "In Australia, it is compulsory to vote but not to register to vote. Here in New Zealand, it is the opposite."
