Joe Biden has shuffled off the stage after an administration that was, in fact, one of the great cover-ups in American history. It was, as Carl Bernstein is fond of saying, ‘worse than Watergate.’
There are books after every presidency, but which insider will write the unvarnished truth about Joe Biden? Every sentient being knows he was not running the show, even back when he emerged from his basement to be sworn in four years ago.
According to most accounts, Joe Biden’s strings were pulled by a handful of puppeteers, trusted old friends. If they wrote the truth about Biden’s decline they would be betraying a pal. Karine Jean-Pierre certainly couldn’t handle the task because she was a willing accomplice to the great cover-up.
White House reporters will also have a hard time telling the story because, like KJP, they chose to cover up the obvious. Peter Doocy and Jacqui Heinrich were on hand at the White House all four years, but insiders might not cooperate with anyone from the despised Fox News.
The most likely scribe is perhaps one of the president’s speech writers, the folks who crafted the words that he garbled and mumbled. They had access to ‘the big guy’ and got a very close look at his mental infirmities.
After Ronald Reagan departed the White House, his celebrated speechwriter Peggy Noonan wrote her book ‘What I Saw at the Revolution.’ She avoided her former boss’s mental lapses, which were minor compared to Joe Biden’s. Watch Reagan’s final press conference, and you’ll see a witty, sharp 77-year-old man reeling off facts and figures and bon mots.
In stark contrast, Joe Biden skipped the traditional term-ending presser because he was simply not up to the task. Everyone around him knew that, so who will step up to write the definitive book?
We’ll even give them a title at no charge: ‘What I Saw at the Devolution.’
