Apotheosis. It’s a great but seldom-used word meaning the absolute peak, the pinnacle. The word comes to mind when observing California, which has seemingly reached the apotheosis of liberal insanity.
For many years, the state and its Democratic leaders have been reading chapters and verses from the sacred book of progressivism. The first and most important commandment is that skin color, gender, and sexual preference are far more important than competence and character.
Does anyone believe Mayor Karen Bass is qualified? As everyone now knows, she cut the fire budget while spending millions on the homeless, illegal immigrants, and, of course, ‘diversity.’
Her fellow Dems halted a wildfire prevention program to save a small shrub. Mundane reservoir maintenance was overlooked while tens of billions were lavished on ‘green energy’ projects and the glamorous pipe dream of a high-speed train. That’s progressivism at its finest.
Mayor Bass is through, and slick Governor Gavin Newsom is flailing. But will Angelinos and Californians wise up and elect problem-solvers? Or will they continue the liberal insanity that has ruined the most populous state in our nation?
Yes, California has reached the pinnacle, it has scaled the Everest of lunacy. But it’s worth noting that most people who have died on Mt. Everest have perished not on the ascent but on the way down.
We all, whatever our politics, should hope that our most beautiful state will climb down from its peak of madness. And that it will survive the descent.
