‘Make America Hate Again!’  That was the apparent goal of the ‘People’s Conference for Palestine,’ which recently wrapped up three days of venom and vitriol in Detroit.

First, a digression – that seemingly innocuous word ‘People’s’ is a warning sign, often employed by Marxists, Communists, and others on the outer fringes.  The People’s Republic of China has lots of people, not much in the way of Republicanism, while the People’s Democratic Republic of Korea is Kim Jong Un’s failed state.  Closer to home, People’s Action is a band of ultra-radical, anti-capitalist malcontents.  True, there are exceptions – the reality show The People’s Court seemed pretty harmless with kindly old Judge Wapner on the bench.

But back to the conference, where the main debate seemed to be whether Israel or the United States is more Satanic.  One speaker, a charming ‘influencer’ named Hasan Piker, once declared that ‘America deserved 9/11.’  Mayor Eduardo Martinez of Richmond, California, actually praised Hamas, and another speaker hinted that factory workers in Detroit might consider sabotaging production of fighter jets bound for Israel.

Perhaps the most disturbing thing about the gathering was the enthusiastic participation of a sitting United States Representative, namely Rashid Tlaib of Michigan, who returned to her home town to deliver this profane message:  ‘Look at this room, motherf******,’ she declared.  ‘We ain’t going anywhere!’  The crowd erupted in wild applause.  Tlaib, one of four Muslims in the House, accused America of having been ‘built on slavery and genocide and rape and oppression’ and declared that her nation promotes genocide and starvation.

While it is remarkable that a member of Congress so thoroughly despises her country, it’s equally astonishing that not one of her Democratic colleagues has stepped forward to rebuke the odious Tlaib.  Republican Buddy Carter is calling for her to be censured for ‘celebrating terrorism,’ but that will have zero effect.  Tlaib was officially censured two years ago for lying and calling for Israel’s destruction, which only served to inspire her defiant response: ‘I will not be silenced.’  She has lived up to that vow.

So Tlaib will remain in Congress and will continue to spew pure hatred towards Israel and America.  And she’ll have no problem getting reelected in her heavily Democratic district.  Actually, you could call it by another name:  The People’s Republic of Southeast Michigan.
