Guest: Geraldo Rivera
"As we reported, 17-year old Allison Kunhardt and 16-year old Tessa Tranchant were killed by an illegal alien drunk driver in Virginia. The man, 22-year old Alfredo Ramos from Mexico, had three previous alcohol-related convictions and an identity theft conviction, but he had never been sentenced to prison. The incidents all took place in and around Virginia Beach, which is a 'sanctuary city.' That means the authorities do not report criminal illegal aliens to the feds unless it's a drastic situation. Amazingly, the clueless mayor of Virginia Beach, Meyera Oberndorf, doesn't seem to know the city's status. Talking Points says enough is enough! President Bush should warn all the sanctuary cities that if they continue to disobey federal law their law enforcement federal grants will be cut off. Secondly, the good people of Virginia Beach should immediately begin a recall petition for Mayor Oberndorf. The bottom line on this is that all Americans have a right to protection from irresponsible people. But our governments generally have bowed to political correctness and are failing to protect us. We're going to make Virginia Beach the flashpoint in stopping the immigration madness. No more sanctuary cities. Period."
For an opposing view, The Factor was joined by Geraldo Rivera. "You have the story almost exactly wrong," Rivera declared. "We're talking about drunk driving, and the only reason this is news on the Factor is because the driver was an illegal alien. This is not an illegal alien story, it's a drunk driving story." The Factor heatedly disputed Rivera's contention. "When you enter this country illegally, you have no right to be here. And this man was caught committing a crime four times. He should have been deported!" The debate escalated into a passionate and fierce argument. "Don't obscure a tragedy to make a cheap political point," Rivera exclaimed. "Do you want your viewers to go knocking on people's doors asking if they're illegal? To make this about illegal aliens is a sin!" The Factor's parting shot: "I want the law enforced and you don't! You want open-border anarchy!" Finally, in the spirit of fair and balanced debate, the two men cordially agreed that they will continue to disagree. |
Guest: Fox News analyst Newt Gingrich
In a speech last weekend, Fox News analyst Newt Gingrich said bilingual education is "the language of living in a ghetto." Gingrich told The Factor he was arguing against a policy, not the Spanish language. "I never referred to any language or any people, except to say that if you are not able to participate in English, which is the language of prosperity and government in the United States, you have a much lower chance of pursuing happiness. I was saying we should have a program of intensive education in English so that anyone who comes here learns the language." The Factor warned Gingrich that his political enemies will use his words as ammunition. "Anything you say will be distorted and held against you, but hopefully people with an open mind will listen to you." |
Guest: Author Kathleen Kennedy Townsend
Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, former Lieutenant Governor of Maryland, has written a book about politics and religion. She spoke with The Factor about her overriding message. "The best part of the United States is to combine faith with a concern for justice. When you combine faith and a concern for the common good, you can do great things. This is the point of the book - discuss these ideas and don't demonize others who disagree with you." But The Factor pointed out that many of Townsend's political allies are habitually demonizing religious Americans. "You're a far left person - you believe in gay marriage, unfettered abortion, and all the things that George Soros believes in. If you're a far-left secular-progressive there is no d?tente with any religious person in this country. And that's the left's problem." |
Guests: Teacher Michael Walker & attorney Charles Kincade
The latest public school outrage comes from Louisiana, where four 5th graders reportedly had sex in front of their classmates. Michael Walker, a teacher at the school, claimed that he was punished for reporting the incident. "I was suspended because I leaked the story to the local paper. I told the reporter what happened, and that students curse at us and basically run the school." Walker's lawyer Charles Kincade said the school district can expect a lawsuit. "We're convinced that he was suspended strictly because he exercised his First Amendment rights, and we're investigating the possibility of proceeding with a federal lawsuit." |
Guests: Fox News analysts Bernard Goldberg & Jane Hall
Bernie Goldberg and Jane Hall joined The Factor with their analysis of how Rosie O'Donnell's inflammatory comments are being covered. Hall dismissed the suggestion that liberal reporters are ignoring the story. "It is valid to question whether Rosie O'Donnell stepped over the line with her 9/11 conspiracy theories. She was wrong, but I don't think it's fair to say the media haven't covered this." Goldberg pointed out that some reporters have criticized The Factor rather than O'Donnell. "Let's say that you, Bill, went after some right-wing nut who made insane statements on a major broadcast network about gays, blacks, Hispanics, or women. Would that be a 'pseudo-controversy' if you were the only one going after them? No, it wouldn't." The Factor ended the segment with a stinging indictment of the mainstream media. "You have two girls in Virginia killed by an illegal alien drunk driver protected by a sanctuary city. No national media covered it, none. Just like they didn't print the story about the pedophile former president of the Virginia ACLU. Just like they didn't print anything about O'Donnell except that I'm starting a feud. This is a cabal that will simply not report the news." |
Guest: Investigative journalist Pat LaLama
Journalist Pat LaLama has been investigating how Anna Nicole Smith obtained the vast supply of prescription drugs that contributed to her death. LaLama reported that psychiatrist Khristine Eroshevich, a neighbor of Smith's, is being scrutinized. "She is being investigated by the medical board, as is Dr. Sandeep Kapoor. I also found out that the Drug Enforcement Administration has gotten involved in this - it's a federal matter because we're talking about controlled substances." The Factor questioned the physicians' competence and ethics. "You have two doctors prescribing massive amounts of narcotics. Doctors are not supposed to be putting people in the position where they could die. |
