Usually this message is fact based but today I'm going to stray a bit. I've been thinking about the most penetrating question I'd like to ask both presidential candidates if I ever get the chance.
For Kamala Harris, it would be this: in the wake of the George Floyd riots, you asked Americans to donate to an organization that was raising money to bail out those arrested in the violent expositions. Why did you do that?
The question is simple and evocative. She could not deny it therefore she would have to explain her motivation. Was race a factor? Did she distrust the Minnesota police? Were her sympathies with law breakers? What?
It's not fair to speculate about the Vice President's answer. But she should answer and have the question repeated over and over until she does.
On the Trump front, another simple query."Mr. President, you often criticize Kamala Harris in very personal ways. Do you think that will get you votes?"
Would be fascinating to know his strategy in that area.
I may, actually, get to ask Mr. Trump that question as he has granted me many interviews over the years. No way Ms. Kamala would ever speak to me; far too much risk for her.
So there you have it. Do you have a favorite question? Send it to me.
