Here's a dilemma that clear-thinking Americans should think about: was President Trump's demolition of President Biden during the Inaugural address historically appropriate?
It was brutal, Mr. Trump saying the Biden administration destroyed the country with Old Joe sitting six feet away. I can't find any other inaugural speech close to that kind of confrontation.
And it wasn't kind.
But it was true. President Biden was a disaster on many levels, and the problems he caused will haunt America for years to come, no matter what Trump does.
But there is the "office" of the presidency to consider. I have labeled Joe Biden the second worst chief executive in history, and the case is strong. But would I say that to Biden's face? No.
I'm not a phony, but there's a standard of behavior when any president is present, as Biden was with Trump.
We live in a polarizing age, and Donald Trump's address solidified that. The exposition on Monday may have been necessary to awaken Americans to the severity of our problems. Or might it have been done another way?
A very tough call.
