Super Bowl Halftime Shows
Prince put on the best Super Bowl halftime show, in my opinion. And I don't even like his stuff that much. That was in 2007. Saw it live; the guy was dynamic.

The first well-publicized Super Bowl halftime thing was Anita Bryant in 1971. She performed backed by "Up With People."  But not gay people. Anita was down on them, as you may remember.

Things really got rolling in 1993 when Michael Jackson and his white glove showed up.  Perfect venue for him, but he stood motionless for a very long time before becoming bad or whatever he was.

In Houston, 2004, I was present when Justin Timberlake borrowed Janet Jackson's bodice or something.  It was all so confusing.  I was sitting in a box with some CBS executives.  EMS was called.

Madonna took the stage in 2012, but I don't remember much about it.  However, Lady Gaga was pretty good five years later, warbling she was "born this way."

What way?  More confusion.

This year Kendrick Lamar is back because lots of younger people like him.  Lost on me.  I'm a Luther Vandross guy.  That documentary on CNN about him was solid.

At this point, I believe the Super Bowl halftime show runs about two hours. Some players actually take naps.

I probably will as well.

Enjoy it.  Only in America!
