That designation will drive the American left, including most media, absolutely nuts. President Trump will enjoy that, but there is a practical reason why this has happened.

 

With perhaps as many as 14 million folks without proper credentials to deal with, the President understands federal agencies cannot adjudicate every personal circumstance.  For example, if a migrant felon is married to someone with a clean record, what happens to the spouse? 

 

Under the new policy, they both will be deported.

 

Crossing into the USA illegally remains a civil offense, like a traffic beef.  I expect Congress to change that as most other countries in the world apply criminal penalties to illegal entry.  Try crossing into Mexico without proper documentation. Jail awaits and not a nice jail.

 

Donald Trump's view of illegal entry is harsh.  But he is entirely upfront about it. And the majority of voters liked what they heard.
