All politicians have strengths and weaknesses, but you would not know that in our polarized society. There is big money in spreading Ideological hatred and no shortage of purveyors in corporate and social media.
Governor Tim Walz is an excellent example. Minnesota voters like him as his job approval rating is 53 percent. But Republicans despise Walz as his policies are off the chart left.
But one thing caught my eye. The Governor and his wife don't have much money. Before politics, he was a teacher and coach. Obviously, those are not high wage professions.
Walz's tax returns indicate that he lives modestly unlike, say, the Biden family which has enriched itself using political clout. Remember Joe and Jill Biden lead the league in refinancing their expensive homes. What's that all about?
They won't say. The press won't ask. And don't even mention the Hunter business.
Living the life of a regular American is admirable for politicians who could exploit their power for financial gain. I respect those who resist that temptation.
The pursuit of money almost always corrupts the chaser. Just ask Senator Robert Menendez and a legion of others who have not been caught. Voters should be sensitive to this issue. You want to live large - go to the private sector.
But if the goal is to help the folks, currency should not be a consideration. And unlike that phony Bernie Sanders, Walz seems to have walked the walk.
Enjoy the weekend.
