President Trump is going to the mattresses. He is bent on dismantling the Washington power structure, which has demeaned and persecuted him. Many were shocked when he nominated Matt Gaetz to be Attorney General. But why the surprise? Gaetz is a dynamiter who would cleanse the Justice Department of leftist partisans. That's the plan, although the Senate will not confirm Mr. Gaetz.
In the MAGA world, it all makes sense. The federal "justice" apparatus has terrorized Trump for nine years. Relentless accusations and investigations. More than 100 million taxpayer dollars spent to ruin the Don. The result: the former president garnered 76 million votes, cruising to a second presidential term.
For some, that would be revenge enough.
For some.
The military will be purged as well. Nominated Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, is the spearpoint. All woke officers will be banished to the private sector. Anyone who ever commiserated with General Milley is toast.
Dr. Fauci's squad will join the military people. Bobby Kennedy, Jr. will see to that. The Centers for Disease Control is staring at a political contagion. No vaccine will stop it.
And here come Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy to evaluate federal spending. Anything could happen with this. The cash police don't need warrants. They are on a mission to do something. Not sure what, but I am certain that some bureaucrats will find out the hard way.
Deputy Chief of Policy Stephen Miller will oversee all this as well as migrant situations. Miller is a tough guy. He doesn't suffer fools, as they say. He's not Pete Buttigieg, if you know what I mean, and I think you do.
Okay. Here is what Donald Trump believes: the majority of Americans want him to avenge perceived political corruption and not just drain the swamp; they want the morass annihilated.
On the campaign trail, Trump never practiced diplomacy, nor did he pull rhetorical punches. Over and over again, he said, if elected, he would bludgeon the DC establishment, which has tormented him.
Now, it has begun. As Don Corleone once promised the heads of the five families who might threaten his family: "That I will not forgive. And I'm going to blame some of the people in this room."
It's on.
