Chalk up another media victory for President Trump as the boss of 60 Minutes, Bill Owens is quitting. His statement says that CBS/Paramount is making it impossible for the iconic program to maintain its independence.

Now, there is much to this story that should be examined. Paramount is trying to sell the CBS operation to a company named Skydance, which is run by the son of billionaire Larry Ellison. For that deal to happen, the federal government must sign off on it.  That goes to the public airwaves thing.

Enter Donald Trump, who is suing CBS, alleging the network helped Kamala Harris in violation of election laws. President Trump loathes 60 Minutes ever since correspondent Leslie Stahl refused to acknowledge Clinton campaign corruption in the Russia election interference controversy.

So, the owners of Paramount are scrutinizing the anti-Trump stuff 60 Minutes regularly puts out.  Mr. Owens says he cannot continue under those circumstances.

It is worth noting that the hate Trump media is screaming the loudest about this. It's also kind of sad that the once prestigious broadcast has fallen on hard times.  As have many network news programs.

See you this evening for the independent No Spin News.
