(Massapequa, New York) St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Funeral mass. Hundreds of police inside. Thousands of others outside. All here to honor murdered New York City police officer Jonathan Diller and his grieving family.
The 31-year-old was shot to death by a career criminal who was allowed by politicians and judges to roam the nation's largest city armed and dangerous. The system knew 34-year-old Guy Rivera was a career criminal, a man with no conscience. He had already served two prison terms, one for drug activity and the other for assault.
Of course, the miscreant Rivera decided to re-offend, leaving a one-year-old boy without a father and a 29-year-old wife without a husband.
Yes, the New York "justice" system well knew what kind of evil Rivera embraced. He was arrested 21 times, but 19 of those alleged crimes were not prosecuted. Why? Because the City of New York does not want to punish criminals. Studies say that in Gotham, about 80 percent of felony charges are either dismissed or plea bargained down to non-prison time misdemeanors.

Rivera was a constant menace to society, but the prosecutors and judges didn't really care. They say they are overwhelmed; they say they can't keep up with the carnage. But it's largely the same thugs committing crimes over and over again. And the corrupt system allows them to run wild.
Office Diller's wife, Stephanie, understands this. From the altar, she scolded the politicians who are destroying the city. After each killing, they say things will change, Stephanie Diller said. They never change.
That's because the Governor of New York, its legislature, the New York City Council, and many leftist judges don't want change. Officer Diller is collateral damage in the progressive movement's agenda to "treat" rather than punish criminals.
These leftwing loons have power in New York, so it's no bail, no responsibility, no protection for civilians or police. The streets simmer with criminality. Good people are brutalized every day.
The social disorder is the direct result of stupid, apathetic policies. There will be no change until voters throw the political bums out.
Guy Rivera should have been isolated behind bars a long time ago. If he had been, a one-year-old baby would not be without his father. Maybe everyone who lives in New York might think about that.
That is, if you care enough about confronting evil.
Because that's what these politicians are actively enabling.
