Are Americans Losing It?
"According to a new NBC poll, a whopping 62% of Americans say the country is headed in the wrong direction. I believe that poll is accurate because the economy is soft, earnings stagnant, foreign policy the worst I have ever seen it. But in the same poll, Vice President Biden was matched up against some Republican contenders for president. And Biden wins each time. The VP isn't even running yet, but he will be soon and this poll will nudge him. But how can these results happen when nearly two-thirds of Americans believe the country is a mess? Biden endorses pretty much everything Barack Obama does, so why would you vote for him? Talking Points believes the answer to that question is cruel. Many Americans are simply dumb - they don't know what's going on, they don't pay attention, they don't care. The machines have allowed the individual American to create his or her own world. It used to be that drugs and alcohol obliterated reality, now it's your hand-held device and PC. Is there any other explanation for Biden, an acolyte of President Obama, defeating every Republican challenger? About 20% of the country will vote for a Democrat no matter who it is. Same thing on the conservative side; about 20% will always vote Republican. That leaves 60% who could be persuaded. However, if you don't know anything and you don't pay attention no matter what kind of facts are presented, you won't receive them. I believe that is what is happening in the USA right now."

The Factor asked Charles Krauthammer to explain the Biden conundrum. "When Obama ran for reelection," Krauthammer recalled, "it was also a pretty dismal time but he won. In Biden, we have a candidate who is merely an idea, an abstraction, and a rather sympathetic one considering what he went through over the past few months. His numbers are high and they will remain high until the day he declares. That happens to all candidates. I'd like to see him run against a Republican because I think he would lose. The Democrats have had a bad five, six, seven years, and it will show." The Factor reminded Dr. K, "When Barack Obama won reelection, we didn't have ISIS and we didn't have every single part of the world in turmoil."
Military Pushback?
Returning for a second segment, Charles Krauthammer scrutinized a new report claiming that the top U.S. general in Afghanistan is resisting President Obama's call for a complete withdrawal. "The generals always wanted a far higher number of troops in Afghanistan," Krauthammer said, "but Obama gave them about half and now we see the results. The generals wanted to keep a residual force in Iraq, Obama said no, and we have seen what happened. Obama only cares about his legacy, and he wants to be remembered for getting us out of the wars. He doesn't care about winning the wars or how we collapsed afterwards, he wants it said that when he leaves office there are no American troops in Afghanistan." The Factor lamented, "What is happening in the world now is off-the-chart dangerous for Americans."
Massive Government Waste
A new report claims that the Environmental Protection Agency has spent about $95-million on office furniture, while Planned Parenthood is also accused of wasting vast sums of government money. The Factor asked FNC's Shannon Bream for a truth check. "Planned Parenthood spent more than $600,000 on 'entertainment' in 2012 and 2013," she reported. "They also spent nearly $35-million on office space in 2011 and there are a lot of questions about their political expenditures. But the EPA claims it has downsized and saved $80-million in rent." Fox News anchor Eric Shawn turned to liberal Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton, who defended Planned Parenthood by claiming that every American has benefitted from research involving fetal tissue. "Fetal tissue research has saved millions of lives," Shawn declared. "The polio vaccine was created through a kidney cell from a fetus, and vaccines for chicken pox, rubella, shingles, and rabies are all from fetal tissue research. Fetal tissue is really valuable." The Factor concluded that Eleanor Holmes Norton was correct, saying, "Fetal tissue from aborted babies can be used for good, and we want to give both sides of the story."
State Department Email Dump
The State Department has released thousands of emails written and received by Hillary Clinton during her tenure at State. The Factor asked FNC's Karl Rove to elaborate on the document dump. "215 of the emails are considered classified," Rove said, "but she transmitted these through the server run out of the basement of her house. We were told by Hillary Clinton that no classified information went through that system. This is clearly in violation of the spirit of the law, and I believe the letter of the law. It was reckless for her to run a private email system without talking to legal advisors at the State Department."
The Government & Your Property
Under the 'eminent domain' doctrine, the government can seize private property if there is a genuine need. One example is in New York City, where the city may grab three lots on Coney Island. The eminent Dennis Miller weighed in on the situation. "My sources tell me," he joked, "that Putin has seized that property and that he will open a steak house called Primea. Of all the things we hear that are un-American, the least American thing I can think of is the government taking a plot of land that you don't want to sell." Miller also mocked the school district in Washington State that has banned the schoolyard game of tag. "These kids are in for a rude awakening because there is a real fecal storm out here in the real world. They don't want kids to play dodge ball because they could get hurt, but do you really want your kid to have no skills and no bruises?" The Factor described it as "the 'wimpification' of our children."
GOP Debates
Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, who was leading the GOP field eight years ago at this time, entered the No Spin Zone with his analysis of the Republican race. "I was the guy they'd go after at every debate," he recalled, "so I wonder whether it's better if you're not the front-runner. Right now there is a worldwide phenomenon about Donald Trump - a lot of people want someone who is tough because we have a president who is perceived as weak." Giuliani, who went through many negotiations with Trump, had nothing but praise for the front-runner. "He was always honest and honorable. I respect him as a businessman and an intellect and I consider him a very good influence on this race."

Media Malpractice
Most Americans have learned to be wary, very wary, of what they read every day in the left-wing media.
