Talking Points Memo & Top Story
How Barack Obama will govern
"With the announcement that President Obama will leave about 50,000 troops in Iraq after the bulk of U.S. troops are withdrawn in 2010, it is becoming clear that on foreign policy the president will govern from the center. But it is also now certain that he is a far left guy on domestic policy. The new budget is simply stunning - Mr. Obama wants to spend more money than at any time since World War II. Talking Points can not imagine any Republican senator supporting the massive budget, so it will have trouble getting passed. But the die has been cast, and President Obama is 'all in' for a colossal change in American society. That change means the rich will support the poor, and people who do not succeed will have their bills paid by people like me. It also means we'll have some kind of new energy in this country, but nobody knows when or what, and gazillions of dollars will flow into American schools. As Talking Points has said, President Obama is taking an enormous gamble, one that will affect all our lives. He has audacity, no question, but the outcome is still mostly hope."

The Factor invited former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich to assess Barack Obama's budgetary priorities. "I see this as a Bush-Obama continuity," Gingrich said "The big spending started last year and Obama is just continuing the policy. I don't think it's going to work, you can't spend your way to prosperity." Gingrich also denounced Obama's energy and education plans. "He has a $640 billion energy tax, which means that anybody who has electricity or a car or uses heating oil is going to pay more. Buried in this budget is a dramatically higher cost of energy, a hidden carbon tax. And if the president really wants to help every child, we have to reform education, not pay more." The Factor predicted that "we will be a debtor nation until we're in the ground, and for decades past that."

Impact Segment
Analyzing Obama's new federal budget
Fox News business anchor Neil Cavuto entered the No Spin Zone with his budget critique. "This is a huge roll of the dice," Cavuto grumbled. "We are placing our trust in government and doubling down with the deficit. This budget makes some sweeping assumptions - it proposes growth that we might have and it assumes that this will trigger prosperity. And we're telling the rich to pay more for a government that consistently does less, so we're giving more money for bad behavior. But to be fair to Barack Obama, he is doing everything he said he would do, he is trying to undo everything that Ronald Reagan did. This is hopeless." The Factor joked that Cavuto is so mean, "you make me look like Little Bo Peep."
Factor Follow Up Segment
Octuplets may not be released to "Octo-Mom"
The Factor was joined by Geraldo Rivera, who reported the latest on octuplet mom Nadya Suleman. "The law in California," Rivera explained, "says that if you are a clear and present danger to your child, the hospital has a statutory duty not to release the child. But crack mothers and abusive mothers routinely get their children and take them home from the hospital. I predict that money will begin coming in to Nadya and she will end up with the children in an appropriate dwelling." The Factor put California authorities on notice: "Programs like ours are going to track every move of that mother and her children."

Personal Story Segment
Mel Gibson's questionable comeback
Actor Mel Gibson, who vanished from public view after making anti-Semitic remarks in 2006, performed in a satirical skit on the Jimmy Kimmel program. Entertainment reporter Kim Serafin praised Gibson's public relations strategy. "He tried to make fun of the whole situation," Serafin said. "He had been laying low and now it seems like he's trying to ease back into the game, and the best way to do that is through humor. We've seen that with other actors as well, doing the humor angle is a good idea." The Factor added that Gibson is a charitable person who deserves another chance. "He is tired of apologizing, and self-deprecation works in America. What will make or break Gibson is whether or not he can come out with a hit movie."

At Your Beck and Call Segment
Should marijuana be taxed?
Fox News anchor Glenn Beck began with a rant aimed at Senator Diane Feinstein, who has proposed an investigation of the Bush-era CIA. "People like Feinstein have a screw loose," Beck declared, "they have a fundamental misunderstanding and they are fundamentally misguided. They were briefed the entire time and knew exactly what was going on." The Factor added that Feinstein and some others on the left harbor an instinctive hostility toward those who have kept America safe. "There has to be a reason why Feinstein, Pelosi, Leahy and all of these far left loons want to damage the country. This hurts the United States and it helps Al Qaeda." Beck also explained his stance on the legalization of marijuana, which some endorse as a way for states to raise revenue. "As a recovering alcoholic," Beck said, "I know that drugs and alcohol destroy people's lives. So I'm not a fan of drugs, but if this country ever got the point where everybody had personal responsibility, then we could legalize drugs. But let's talk about legalization, not taxation."

Factor TV Icon Segment
Remembering the "Mickey Mouse Club"
Finally, The Factor welcomed Doreen Tracey and Lonnie Burr, two of the original "Mouseketeers" on the iconic Mickey Mouse Club TV show. "I was in love with Mr. Disney," Tracey recalled, "so to be an employee of Mr. Disney was like a little girl gone to heaven. He was a taskmaster, but he was very honest and direct and made you feel like you were part of his crew." Burr theorized why Annette Funicello became the best known cast member. "She was pretty of course, but she also had that charisma that showed up on the screen and when she entered a room. Walt Disney saw her being a ballerina and said he wanted her on the show." The Factor lauded "the innocence of the 1950's that the Mouseketeers brought into America's living rooms ... that was very valuable to society."
Pinheads and Patriots
Running of the Brides participants & Will Ferrell
Friday's Patriots: The women who took part in the "Running of the Brides" at Filene's Basement, the store's wedding dress sale. The Factor praised the brides-to-be for their "thrift." And the Pinhead: Comic Will Ferrell, now starring in a Bush-bashing play, who started out as the tiara-wearing "Senior Prince" at his high school.

Viewers sound off
Dr. Mehrnaz Barabino, Medford, MA: "Hey, Bill, the expert on ritualistic killings indicated that moderate Muslims tolerate honor killings. This is simply not true. And a Muslim who performs such an act is in direct conflict with the Koran."

Jerry Holthaus, Columbia, SC: "Mr. O, tonight you made me angry. As a proud Muslim, I saw my religion being trashed during the honor killing segment."

Jennifer MacFarland, Kennett Square, PA: "Bill, I disagree with you on education. As a lifetime educator, I can tell you that the change in the classroom is because parents do not back up teachers anymore."

Deborah Pianalto, Rogers, AR: "When Alan Keyes said President Obama is a radical communist who will destroy this country, you seemed shocked, Bill. I and millions of other Americans believe this."
